application notes
Although golive™ is a WYSIWIG tool it is not possible to support all browsers that are currently available. We decided to emulate Netscape’s 3.0 behaviour in rendering HTML. To make sure that your HTML documents display correctly we advise you to test them with different browsers (e.g., Netscape, NCSA Mosaic, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.).
HTML pages built with golive™ 1.1 show up best with Netscape Navigator 2.0 or later.
We advise you to make a backup of your existing HTML documents before opening them in golive™ because golive™ may rewrite the HTML tags after opening an existing HTML document and saving it with golive™. Tags that are currently not supported by golive™ (e.g. TABLES) are displayed as pure HTML.
This version of golive™ supports server-side image maps which means that golive™ generates a map file which has to be interpreted by a cgi application (e.g., MapServe™ for Apple Macintosh web servers). The cgi application resides on the web server and thus is platform specific. It is not part of the golive™ software package. golive™ also supports client side image maps, which need no cgi.
Please note that golive™ inserts a <P> tag each time you press <RETURN>. To generate a line break <BR> press <COMMAND> + <RETURN>.
Tables can be created as raw HTML or in the outline Editor with this version of golive™.
In this version of golive™ the number of forms is limitedto one form per page.
compatibility
Caution: golive™ 1.1 is incompatible with ~Aaron system extension. Form elements such as submit buttons, reset buttons or text areas are not displayed correctly within the document window when the ~Aaron system extension is installed.
golive™ 1.1 supports HTML 2.0 tags and some commonly used Netscape extensions (e.g. FRAMES). HTML Tags and attributes that are supported by golive™ 1.1 and that are not part of the HTML 2.0 specification should be ignored by any browser that does not support these tags or attributes. To make sure that your HTML documents display correctly we advise you to test them with different browsers (e.g., Netscape, NCSA Mosaic, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.).
